Crooked Can and Plant Street Market blends craft beer, diverse eats, and community into one thriving destination.
Crooked Can Brewing Company isn’t just located inside Plant Street Market. It is the heartbeat of it. “The Can and Plant Street Market are one and the same,” says Alan Delahunt, managing partner and co-owner. “Interchangeable. What makes us unique is that dual role we serve in the community. We’re great at making beer, and we have an exciting array of vendors making incredible food for our customers.”
For 11 years, that formula has worked. And then some.
“We are continually on the lookout for our next great food vendor. There is a waiting list, but we are always taking applications.”
Plant Street Market thrives on its mix of vendors, each one adding something distinct to the overall experience. It operates in a space between a food truck and a traditional restaurant—offering vendors a step up in visibility and stability, without the cost and complexity of opening a standalone location.
The past 11 years have seen significant changes come to Downtown Winter Garden that, in turn, have brought changes to Plant Street Market. While its roster of food clients has certainly grown and diversified, the Market still prioritizes unique, local experiences.
“There’s been a lot of development, a lot of new people moving here. It was a much quieter town 11 years ago. But through it all, Winter Garden has managed to retain the magic of its small-town charm. They put on a lot of events that really activate the community, and residents feel like they’ve played a part in all of it, including Crooked Can. They have a sense of ownership in it.”
One of the secrets to Plant Street Market’s success has to be the variety and quality of its food choices. They have a little something for every taste and every age. From mac and cheese to fresh-shucked oysters. BBQ to pizza. Donuts to hand-crafted chocolates, a world-class spice shop to the freshest teas and coffees you’ll ever sip.
Norigami is one example of a standout success at Plant Street Market. David Tsan, the chef behind the concept, creates an omakase sushi experience with custom, made-by-hand rolls that comprise a 10-course tasting experience. His goal from the start has always been to offer a high quality, affordable meal. It’s worked. For three years running, Norigami has been awarded the Bib Gourmand by the Michelin Guide.
JAM Hot Chicken is another Plant Street success story. Like fried chicken? When Andrew Scalia transported his “Nashville Hot Chicken” concept here to Orlando, he set a new standard for juicy, crunchy-good fried chicken for all of us. His always fresh, never frozen, Halal-certified chicken is currently a market favorite.
And then there’s Bruno’s Oysters, tucked inside the Barrel Room. This hidden gem serves fresh oysters sourced from the best waters in North America, alongside rich, savory dishes like bone marrow and lobster rolls. It’s the kind of place you stumble into once and then make a habit of returning to.
And it all pairs perfectly with an ice-cold brew from Crooked Can, now ranked No. 9 nationally by the Brewers Association and having won multiple awards with the Florida Brewers Guild, world beer championships, and the Great American Beer Festival. With a 43,000 sq. ft. expansion underway in Minneola, it’s a brand on the rise—one locals are proud to say they discovered right here in Plant Street Market.
