Celebrating Five Years

John and Melissa Ried built their business on a simple idea: Do good work, take care of people, and always do the right thing. Five years later, it’s still working.

Five years ago, John Ried had a decision to make.

It was 2021. Building material costs were soaring. Supply chains were unpredictable. Starting a home renovation and design company was, by almost any measure, questionable timing.

John did it anyway.

“I knew deep down there was an opportunity in the market for improvement in the customer experience,” he says. “I talked it over with Melissa, and she said, ‘Go for it.’ Bless her. She had faith in me.”

And with that, Viewpoint Design and Installation was born.

Today, John can look around the Winter Garden, Windermere, Horizon West, and Clermont areas and see something he couldn’t back then: five years of work.

Kitchens transformed. Floors installed. Closets reimagined. Outdoor spaces made more livable. New homes finished from the ground up. And, perhaps most importantly, clients who called Viewpoint for one project and came back for the next.

“Five years,” John says. “My goodness, how those years have flown by.”

They did it. But not overnight.

The early years were about saying yes to the right opportunities and proving Viewpoint deserved the next one. Designer Lynda Mongeluzzi joined the company in its second year and remains an integral part of the team today. Projects followed, including nine townhomes at 30 North Park and a relationship with ABD Development that put Viewpoint’s work in front of more people.

“That gave us the chance to really show off what we could do,” John says. “I will always be grateful to them.”

Soon, the projects got bigger. So did Viewpoint.

Viewpoint proudly began partnering with one of the top builders in the area, Element Home Builders, while also expanding its product offerings to decorative wall accents, closets, outdoor kitchens, and, soon, furniture vanities.

But five years of growth isn’t simply about doing more. It’s about getting better.

Better service. Better products. Better execution. And now, five years of experience behind every recommendation.

John is quick to point out that Viewpoint didn’t build its reputation alone. “We had a lot of help from other local small businesses, the West Orange Chamber of Commerce, We Are Winter Garden, Horizon West Happenings, and The Local,” he says. “We sincerely value and appreciate those relationships.”

So John and Melissa have made a point of showing up in return. Viewpoint has supported Habitat for Humanity, Rotary, local schools, theater programs, and the West Orange High School football program, among others.

“We stay busy, always with an eye toward giving back,” John says.

That support has come full circle. Referrals continue to grow, and Viewpoint has been recognized by readers of The Local as a Best of the Best winner three years running.

Five years in, Viewpoint is no longer the new company asking homeowners to take a chance on it. There is a body of work now. A reputation. Relationships. Proof.

And behind it all is the same philosophy John started with: Always Do the Right Thing.

“Jobs sometimes don’t go according to plan,” he says. “When things occur, it’s about how quickly we recover and how well we communicate with the client.”
