Technology, information, leadership, and Christian education—at first glance, they may seem like separate spheres. But in the life and work of Tim Nethers, they converge seamlessly. Described by his peers as an “utterly brilliant young man,” Tim is a Florida native and proud graduate of the University of Central Florida whose career is deeply rooted in purpose and innovation.
Recently promoted from Director of IT to Chief Information Officer (CIO) at Foundation Academy, his new role reflects more than a job title—it represents his growing influence on the school’s mission to become a leading force in Christ-centered education.
Tim explains, “The CIO is a strategic role that connects our technology, marketing, and production efforts in a way that amplifies every aspect of school life—from how we tell our story to how we support learning environments.” He’s pioneering a new blend of IT and marketing, known as Martech, which allows the school to harness live data, automate marketing systems, and streamline communication with cutting-edge tools.
“We’re implementing CRM systems that integrate directly into our student information systems, facilities scheduling tools that sync with event planning, and advanced ecommerce platforms for our school store,” he says. “These changes give our staff more time to focus on what matters most: students.”
But Tim’s investment in the school runs even deeper—his two children attend Foundation Academy. “When your own kids walk these halls, everything becomes more personal,” he shares. “You want the best—for them, for their classmates, for every student here.” That lived experience shapes how he leads, listens, and innovates.
With more than 15 years of experience in educational technology and a background in design and development, Tim brings both expertise and creativity to his role. “What makes this role personal is that I see Foundation from every angle: as a parent, a spouse of an academic team member, and an administrator,” he notes. “That perspective drives many of our improvements.”
And as the school continues to grow, Tim’s vision is boldly forward-thinking. “Foundation Academy’s future is bright,” he says. “We are building a school that equips students not just for today’s world, but for tomorrow’s opportunities—with a focus on smart AI integration and system-wide innovation.”
Using AI ethically is the goal. “We have teacher and student groups who focus on the usage of AI – we know it’s not going away, but we know we can empower our students to use it ethically. Leadership is about listening well, acting with integrity, and building systems that support people—not the other way around.”
For Tim, it all comes back to the heart of the mission. “My goal is simple,” he says. “I want every family seeking a Christ-centered education to feel seen, supported, and inspired by what we’re building here.” And for those already walking the halls—students, teachers, parents—Tim wants their experience to be seamless, empowering, and full of purpose. “Every tool we implement, every system we improve—it’s all for them,” he shares. “Because when technology works well behind the scenes, it allows the people in front of it to shine.”
At the intersection of faith and innovation, Tim’s vision isn’t just about progress—it’s about people. And in every byte, bandwidth, and breakthrough, he’s helping Foundation Academy grow into a place where excellence in education meets the love of Christ, and where tomorrow’s leaders are being equipped today.
