Your Health Is Personal

JMA Health and Wellness: The primary care option designed for people who want more time, more guidance, and more say in their health journey.

Heather Sheldon believes healthcare should feel like an actual relationship—not a rushed transaction. After more than a decade in family practice as a nurse practitioner, she saw how often patients left appointments feeling unheard, unseen, and unsure of their next steps. She knew there had to be a better way to care for people—one built on time, trust, and real conversation.

That belief is what inspired her to create JMA Health and Wellness, a nurse practitioner–run primary care clinic designed around presence instead of pressure. Insurance still has its place, especially for complex or specialized medical needs, but when it comes to prevention, chronic-condition support, everyday concerns, weight loss and long-term wellness, Heather wanted to offer something more personal and more flexible.

The Gift of Time

At JMA Health and Wellness, appointments aren’t squeezed into ten-minute blocks. Since the clinic operates as self-pay (with insurance used only for labs and tests), Heather isn’t bound by the red tape that usually steals time from patients. Instead, she gets to sit with them. Listen. Ask questions that go deeper than a checklist. Understand the whole person, not just their symptoms.

“When is the last time you went to the doctor and didn’t feel rushed?” she often asks. For many patients, the answer is: never. JMA Health and Wellness was built to change that. “I went back to the basics of nursing—compassion, connection, listening. That’s how you deliver care that actually helps people.”

Care That Meets You Where You Are

Heather’s calling revealed itself long before she ever set foot in an exam room. Her first job out of high school was in a nursing home, waking up early to set breakfast tables and then helping residents with their morning routines. “They were so grateful,” she says. “It showed me how good it feels to help someone. I knew I wanted that feeling to guide my life’s work.”

That same heart-first approach guides the services offered at JMA Health and Wellness. Many patients initially come for primary care and later explore additional support—including weight management. JMA Health and Wellness offers a simple monthly fee for weight-loss care, which covers all office visits. Patients have access to the full range of modern weight-loss medications, nutrition and exercise guidance, behavioral counseling, and, when needed, bioidentical hormone replacement therapy for women. Every plan is individualized—built around lifestyle, goals, and real-life sustainability.

“None of us are perfect,” Heather says. “But we can always be better. And I want to help people get better.”

Compassion, connection, listening… That’s how you deliver care that actually helps people.
