That commitment runs deep. The Harper name has been woven into Central Florida’s electrical industry for five generations. Long before Billy launched Empowered Electric, his family was helping power homes, businesses, and growing communities across the region. Innovation, craftsmanship, and pride in doing the job right aren’t new ideas — they’re part of a legacy he’s proud to carry forward.
A New Beginning
“Years ago, I was so broken,” says Billy. “Gripped by drug addiction. Then one morning, it was July 2, 2021, I woke up beside my partner, Rebecca, and told her I can’t do this anymore. She hugged me and said she’d been waiting to hear me say that, and by 10:00 a.m. I was at a detox facility. When I was ready, we both dove headfirst into a recovery fellowship. Soon, inside of two months, we started helping other people. That fellowship gave me a life beyond the wires. And that was the key. To this day, Empowered Electric and I have been able to help hundreds of people get their lives on track.
“Also on that morning in July, after I woke up, I realized that whatever I was trying in my life wasn’t working. I didn’t know what to do, and so I surrendered to God. Now, today, I still wake up every morning and ask God what He wants me to be. Who He wants me to help. And that is what keeps me focused.”
Down to the Wire
Empowered Electric is a purpose-driven company that repairs and installs practically anything that has wires. If your home is not up to powering all of the demands of today’s new appliances, you may need a service upgrade to handle the load. Have a new EV? They can install your own EV charging station. Outside, they can install all the electricals for pools, hot tubs, and outside lighting. Even electric gates for your driveway. Inside your home, they can take care of small jobs too, such as adding a new outlet or dedicated circuit.
In a state famous for storms and the emergencies that come with them, Empowered Electric maintains an emergency crew to address the power outages, interruptions, and power surges that might result. Home surge protection is a very popular service.

“We just recently fixed a problem for one of our customers. They were blowing breakers and had no idea why. They called, and we were at their house the very next morning. After several hours of being stumped ourselves, we discovered an outlet box underneath their couch filled with liquid. Apparently, their small daughter had accidentally spilled a drink and kept that a family secret.”
Empowered Electric, just as Billy Harper envisioned back in 2021, exists solely to bring safety, peace of mind, transparency, and long-term protection to the people and communities it serves: Ocoee, Winter Garden, Clermont, Oakland, and Horizon West. They employ a staff of eight who are all powered by faith and driven to serve. They also provide space in their building for any nonprofit in the community that may need it. “We keep it a safe space for anyone in need. If you need help with the wires or even something beyond them, please call us and ask.”
